Business Coaching with the 'GC'
Gemma Collins is known is a loud, bubbly individual, who made her debut into the limelight from The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE) back in 2011. Since then, she has adorned the front of every paper in the UK at some point in the last 10 years with her diva-like antics and her ‘take no prisoners’ attitude.
Behind the front pages of the national tabloids, Gemma is a successful business owner and extremely knowledgeable saleswoman. Having made her start at a BMW showroom from where she met Big Business Events founder, Adam Stott. The two have remained close friends since and still work together with Gemma a special guest speaker at our events.
Gemma started her venture into clothing during her time on TOWIE. Being thrust into the limelight had exposed her to the brutality of the tabloids who had unfortunately found fault with her body as she was scrutinised unfairly and continuously for her above average size. Spurred by the relentlessness of the abuse, she turned the negativity into something productive and meaningful by creating a fashionable clothing company geared towards women of bigger sizes.
She is a huge advocate for body positivity and believes that every person has the right to wear what they like and feel beautiful. The foundation of her business is built on her core mission statement, that she didn’t want any woman to feel like she had been made to feel because of her size.
Gemma has run her company since 2012, although there were some hiccups along the way, it has been an overall success. This may come as a surprise to many who know her as the ‘GC’, a larger-than-life character that has become a household name in the last decade. The ‘GC’, Gemma refers to as her brand where she has garnered most of her fame. She says it’s a façade she wears for the public eye, which is a stark contrast to the “homely girl” called Gemma Collins.
Gemma is a firm supporter of the importance of branding, and when asked about it at our Turning Point Event, she gave the advice; “You need to build your brand. A brand is your business’s identity”. She goes on to say “I created a whole brand out of me. Although I’m Gemma Collins, my brand is the ‘GC’. The GC, my brand, is basically a character that’s over the top and people either love or hate her”. She is well known up and down the country, which is a testament to her ability to create a brand and as her ability as a businesswoman. She knows what it takes to get yourself out there and get recognised.
We first partnered with Gemma Collins as a guest speaker in July 2021 for our exclusive Turning Point Weekend, in which she spent a whole day coaching and spending one-to-one time with every single one of our clients.
Going around the room she looked at everyone’s individual business and social media platforms, and give positive criticism on how to improve. Her advice was invaluable to all of those in the room. She shared her experiences on and off camera and how they helped to shape her and her business.
The event was a huge success, so much so, that we are running a new series of 3-day events called Business Growth Secrets with Adam and Gemma. Our first event will be taking place on the 20th-22nd October, shortly followed with another on the 10th-12th November, and the third date is soon to be announced!
