Why Video Content is King
When is comes to attracting interest and getting better results online, video content is unmatched. It’s an easy and efficient way to get your audiences’ attention and hold onto it for a longer period of time, as opposed to a stationary post. How do we know this? How is it measurable? When we look at the growth and reach of social media platforms, there is a consistent commonality:
- The fastest growing social media platform currently is TikTok - a video only app
- Instagram gives more reach to Reels than any other content type
- YouTube is plunging millions into it's new 'Shorts' feature
- Since the start of the pandemic, Live and Evergreen webinars have become the place for people to learn
What this means is that if you’re not creating engaging videos on a regular basis that give value to your audience , your content is at risk of being scrolled hastily past on people’s News Feed.
Creating a video is not as daunting as it might seem, and thankfully very little is needed to record and post it. With just your phone, some decent lighting, and possibly some tools like Canva or Photoshop, it is easy to create cool and engaging videos that your audience will love, in only a few minutes.
If you're not sure what type of video content to create, here are a few ideas:
Instagram Stories – The clue is in the name! Stories are very popular with your followers since its function is to tell your audience about your day in short segments. These give you more freedom to play around with your video content since they disappear from your profile after 24 hours and won’t appear on your feed like a standard post.
Educate – Research what your audience wants to know about your industry, and give them the answers – simple as that! For example, if you help people sell their houses, give them some tips to increase the likelihood of a sale and tell them what terms like ‘gazumping’ and ‘gazundering’ mean.
Behind the Scenes – Give people a look at what goes into your business, give them an exclusive inside peak! This will build a more personal relationship with your customers and allow you to be more transparent. So, show your customers how you create your products and services, or how you would prepare for an event or job.
Record a Time-Lapse – This is a great, creative way for you to show people the process you go through to make your product or service. It’s more interesting than recording a long video detailing every minor detail that goes into your process, being shorter and faster, the clip will keep your audience engaged for longer.
Go Live – At this point in time, it’s hard to beat the reach you can get when you go live. So, what’s stopping you from doing it? The best way to overcome any fears and doubts you have is by just doing it, expose yourself to that feeling. Your first one might not be fantastic nor might your tenth, but the more you keep on doing it, the better you will become. Practice makes progress! So go live, and show people your events, your products and services, or just update your audience to something new that is happening in your business.
You don’t need to be Angelina Jolie to be successful in front of the camera anymore, all you need is a phone and some creativity. Still camera shy? Create a sort of parody of yourself and use that instead. If you want to get better results from your marketing, including longer page-dwell times, good quality leads, and bigger organic reach then you need to get recording!
